What a difference a day makes.
A few weeks ago, I found out about a TV pilot that was being written & directed by guys I’d met at “3rd Rock From The Sun” & “Whoopi”. One of the show’s creator’s used to perform sketch comedy with me at The Acme Comedy Theatre (no relation to Acme Talent) back in 1996. I faxed them asking for an audition. They obliged. A couple weeks passed. I didn’t hear anything. I figured I didn’t get the part.
This afternoon, I got a call from Dan the creator. He told me that they want to hire me for CBS’ “The Aisha Tyler Pilot”. I accepted the job from Dan and asked them to let my old agent Gwenn Pepper handle the contract. One of the replacement agents from the agency that released me from their roster 24 hours ago, called to tell me that I booked the “possible recurring” part. I politely told him that I had someone else handling that for me. Since I found out about the role myself and got the audition myself, I had no problem doing that.
Long story short, I am now represented over there at Gwenn’s new agency GVA.
